You must be a Canadian citizen or PR to sponsor a super visa.

About the Super Visa Eligibility Requirements

To sponsor your parents or grandparents for a Canadian super visa, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and meet the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) threshold for your household size. Starting March 31, 2026, IRCC requires you to meet the LICO threshold for two consecutive years (previously one year).

2025 LICO Thresholds (Before Tax)

Household SizeMinimum Income
2 people$35,107
3 people$43,159
4 people$52,423
5 people$59,460
6 people$67,078
7+ people$74,695

Your household size includes you, your dependents, and the parent(s)/grandparent(s) you are sponsoring. If your parent/grandparent can supplement your income with their own Canadian income, this can count toward meeting the threshold (new rule effective March 2026).
